The 25th Silver Anniversary Celebration of RSVP is a celebration of our
exemplary volunteers who have worked so hard all year ‘round & over the last 25 years to weave an amazing tapestry of love & caring around Beaver County!
RSVP is America’s largest volunteer network for people age 55 and over in the nation. There are nearly 500,000 volunteers across the country who are tackling tough issues in their communities. RSVP is locally active and offers all of its volunteer’s enrichment, education & energy by providing the most suitable & rewarding volunteer opportunities available. RSVP offers maximum flexibility and choice to its volunteers as it matches the personal interests and skills of older Americans with opportunities to serve their communities. RSVP volunteers choose how and where they want to serve—from a few hours to more than 40 hours a week. Our charge is to help seniors share their lifetime of experiences by putting their skills and talents to good use.
RSVP of Beaver County works with nearly 75 local Beaver County agencies to ensure quality meaningful experiences for our volunteers. RSVP’s link with the Beaver County Office on Aging and the Beaver County Commissioners is very strong. That is why it seemed only natural to invite our good friend Commissioner Joe Spanik to be the Master of Ceremonies at our celebration event. RSVP’s friends have in deed helped us mold this motto ‘Seniors Make a Difference in Beaver County!’
Last year RSVP’s Annual Volunteer Recognition Luncheon was a huge success. Our theme was “RSVP Champions Luncheon! The Steelers & Penguins are 2009 World Champions & so are YOU!” Almost all of the over 225 guests arrived wearing their Pittsburgh Black & Gold and a wonderful time was had by all.
This year on Wednesday, September 22, 2010 @ 11- 2 p.m. at the Fez in Hopewell, RSVP will celebrate our 25th Anniversary. RSVP is honored and pleased to go back in time remembering, honoring, sharing and celebrating 25 years of volunteering in Beaver County. Our theme is “Silver Threads and Golden Needles”. That says it all as we highlight a quarter of a century serving as the premier volunteer placement agency in the country and in Beaver County from 1985~2010. To make this event even more grandiose RSVP will have the “Sounds of Pittsburgh Chorus” the Region 17 champions and a Dean Martin impersonator ~ Bob Morelli to entertain our guests.
……and remember:
Volunteering leads to new discoveries and new friends. Plus, studies show that volunteering helps you live longer and promotes a positive outlook on life.
In Service,
Valerie McElvy, RSVP of Beaver County Director
